Where isWheat Field with Cypresses Located?

One of my favorite pieces of art isWheat Field with Cypressespast Vincent Van Gogh. What is interesting nigh this painting is that Van Gogh really created 3 virtually identical copies of it. The i I included is located in the Metropolitan Museum of Fine art, in New York City, the second re-create is found in The National Gallery in London and the 3rd copy, which is actually a smaller version, is part of a private collection. This is all according to Trip Improver.

Background

This painting I have included a picture of, was painted in June 1889 at the mental asylum, Saint Paul de Mausole, in which he was a patient at. This hospital is located in Saint Rémy de Provence, Bouches du Rhône, French republic. In other words the South of France. This scenery in this painting is what the land looked like surrounding the asylum, and Van Gogh'south first re-create was painted while he was allowed to become for brusk strolls outside. This is an oil paint on canvas painting, featuring a windblown field of wheat and nearly notably dark, towering Cypress trees.

Notable Elements of Art

Ane of my favorite elements of this painting is the texture. Whether it exist the trees, the heaven or the wheat field, you lot can run into the texture that each heavy stroke left backside. This is why I prefer the original version to the 2nd, due to the fact that the starting time re-create is much more textured. Located beneath is the second version ofWheat Field with Cypresses, which is located in the National Gallery in London.

Wheat Field with Cypressesby Vincent Van Gogh

Another element that stands out in this piece of work is the color. Though most of the painting is made upwardly of cool blues and greens, I recall it is the warm, golden wheat that stands out the nigh. I also admire the ruby flowers scattered throughout the front. I think this painting is the perfect residue between warm and cool hues.

Presentation, Context and Emotion

In regards to presentation, I think these works of art are in pretty appropriate places. Van Gogh is an extremely well known artists, with universally loved works of art, and then I find it very necessary that some of his art work, such every bitWheat Field with Cypressesbe displayed in popular museums for many people to appreciate. I also find the context backside this epitome fascinating. Knowing that this painting is of the mural outside the mental aviary Van Gogh stayed in, is very intriguing. This scenery looks like it is very serene, but behind the back of the creative person, while this work was being painted, is a place I am sure is the opposite of calm. And I retrieve later learning almost the context behind this painting, information technology makes me feel emotionally connected to it. I have seen this piece several times before, and I even have a tote purse printed with this painting. It has always made me feel content and at peace, like I am relaxing outside on a warm summertime day. After learning the backstory to this work, I really appreciate how Van Gogh was able to create such a tranquil work of art while being a patient in a mental hospital.

My Opinion onWheat Field with Cypresses

I absolutely love this painting! Like I said earlier this picture show reminds me of a warm summer twenty-four hour period, with a slight cakewalk and happy clouds floating through the heaven. I really savour the colors used hither every bit well. Dissimilar shades of blues and golds are some of my favorite colors, which is probably 1 of he reasons why I appreciate this piece so much. I really likeThe Starry Night past Van Gogh also. The swirls in the clouds of this painting reminds me so much of the iconic swirls in the sky ofThe Starry Night, and I have always idea of theWheat Field with Cypresses equally the twenty-four hour period fourth dimension version of that painting. I find this piece very beautiful and serene, making it 1 of my favorite pieces of art.
